Duke basketball continues to build one of the nation's most impressive recruiting classes, landing another highly regarded prospect ahead of the 2027-28 season.
Five-star forward Asa Montgomery announced his commitment to the Blue Devils on Wednesday, giving head coach Jon Scheyer another major recruiting victory.
Montgomery, the No. 7 overall prospect in ESPN's SC Next 100 rankings for the Class of 2027, confirmed his decision to ESPN's Paul Biancardi.

The 6-foot-7 forward from Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, chose Duke over several prominent programs, including North Carolina, UConn, LSU and Georgia Tech.
His commitment gives Duke its third pledge in the 2027 recruiting class, joining forward Kager Knueppel and Australian guard Luke Paul.
Montgomery has emerged as one of the nation's most versatile high school prospects, combining impressive athleticism with scoring ability and defensive potential.
During the Nike EYBL circuit, Montgomery averaged 27.9 points, 10.2 rebounds and three assists per game while shooting 54% from the field.
His production helped establish him as one of the country's most sought-after recruits, attracting attention from several of college basketball's biggest programs. Montgomery also represented the United States at the FIBA Under-17 World Cup, helping the Americans capture a gold medal.
During the tournament, he averaged 9.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists while demonstrating his ability to contribute in a more complementary role.
That versatility could prove valuable at Duke, where Scheyer has consistently assembled rosters featuring multiple highly ranked recruits.
Montgomery's decision comes after an official visit to Durham earlier this month for Duke's annual Countdown to Craziness event. The commitment also represents another recruiting victory over rival North Carolina, which was among the finalists competing for his services.
Under Scheyer, Duke has continued attracting elite high school talent, maintaining the program's reputation as one of college basketball's premier destinations.

Montgomery's addition further strengthens a 2027 class that has already climbed to the top of the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
With three commitments secured and additional recruiting targets still available, the Blue Devils are positioning themselves for another highly regarded incoming class.
For Scheyer, landing Montgomery reinforces Duke's ability to compete for the nation's best prospects while building toward sustained success in the ACC and beyond.
