Entering the 2025 college football season, there was a lot of intrigue to see how Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders would fare without Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter leading his team. So far, things have not looked good.

Through the team's first five games, they have mustered up a 2-3 record. Quite simply, the team doesn't look good and it would be an absolute shock for Sanders to be able to lead them to a bowl appearance.

Sanders is still one of the most popular head coaches in the college football landscape. Even though his team isn't winning football games, he has continued to be brought up as a top coach. However, he'll have to prove it to turn Colorado's season around.

With that being said, what exactly are the chances that Sanders could jumpstart the Buffaloes and get them to a bowl game?

According to ESPN's Football Power Index, Colorado's projected win total is 5-7. Sanders and company would have to win six games to be bowl eligible. As it stands now, the Buffaloes hold a 31.5 percent chance of making a bowl game.

Obviously, that isn't where a team wants to sit at this point in the season.

It's not impossible. Perhaps Colorado can catch fire and start stringing some wins together. Looking at the schedule, it's hard to see that happening.

Throughout the final seven games of the season, the Buffaloes will face TCU on the road, No. 14 Iowa State at home, Utah on the road, Arizona at home, West Virginia on the road, No. 25 Arizona State at home, and Kansas State on the road. Those are not easy games for the most part.

Since taking over the Colorado head coaching job back in the 2023 season, Sanders has led the program to a 15-15 overall record. He led the Buffaloes to the Alamo Bowl last season, but fell by a final score of 36-14 to the BYU Cougars.

While there is still a chance that Sanders and Colorado can turn things around, the rest of the season is looking bleak. No one should be shocked after the Buffaloes lost so much talent to the NFL, but "Coach Prime" will clearly have a lot of work to do to turn the program back into a contender.
