Dave Portnoy has seen enough of Michigan football under Kyle Whittingham, and he isn’t waiting for the offseason to say so.

The Michigan Wolverines lost 15-6 to the Michigan State Spartans at the Big House on Nov. 7, with neither team reaching the end zone. Portnoy answered with a video calling for Whittingham and offensive coordinator Jason Beck to be fired.

He didn’t ease into it.

“Kyle Whittingham, fire him. Gone. Get him out of here. Jason Beck, gone. Fire him. Get him out of here.”

Portnoy called the pair “absolute football ter**rists” and put the blame squarely on the staff rather than the roster.

An old benchmark came up, too.

“This Michigan football team is the worst Michigan football team I’ve pretty much ever seen. I’m talking Brady Hoke, not wearing a headset on the sideline, being totally clueless. These guys are worse.”

Results back up his frustration. Michigan has dropped four of its last six games and hasn’t topped 21 points in six of its last seven.

Michigan State entered without a Big Ten victory and left at 3-6 overall after knocking off a Wolverines team favored by two touchdowns at home.

Beck followed Whittingham from Utah and is college football’s highest-paid offensive coordinator. He normally runs the offense from the press box but moved to the sideline at the break against the Spartans.

Whittingham, 66, said a coordinator change isn’t on the table “right now as I’m sitting here at this podium,” though he plans to review the entire operation once the season ends.

“As disappointed as I’ve ever been as a head coach and as frustrated as I’ve ever been as a head coach,” Whittingham said after the game.

A nursing home, according to Portnoy, is where Whittingham belongs. With “an ounce of dignity,” he said, the coach would quit and skip the buyout entirely.

Ohio State still looms on the schedule. Portnoy said he’s borderline rooting for Michigan to lose every remaining game, the Buckeyes included, if that’s what forces a change.
