The College Football Playoff semifinal went as poorly as possible for the Oregon Ducks last Friday, as they fell 56-22 to the Indiana Hoosiers.

However, after a weekend of retaining key players across the roster, head coach Dan Lanning is looking ahead to the 2026–27 season with optimism. That outlook got even brighter on Monday when Oregon landed one of the top QBs in the transfer portal.

Dylan Raiola announced he will transfer to Eugene, potentially stepping in as the starter depending on what Dante Moore decides about his future.

Reacting to the news, Lanning shared his usual celebratory social media post, simply posting the duck emoji.

Dylan Raiola’s journey dates back to his high school days and has been anything but straightforward. He originally committed to Ohio State, but ahead of his junior year of high school, he withdrew that commitment.

He then verbally committed to Georgia, only to back out again before ultimately landing at Nebraska, where he spent the past two seasons under head coach Matt Rhule.

This season, Raiola started nine games before suffering a season-ending broken fibula, finishing with a 72.4% completion rate for 2,000 yards, 18 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

Now, he’s the next in line for an Oregon team that has cycled through talented quarterbacks over the past few seasons under Dan Lanning, who took over in 2021.

Moore could choose to return to school this year, which would make things interesting: Raiola would likely serve as the backup for a season before taking over as the starter.

Currently, Moore is regarded as the second-best quarterback prospect behind Fernando Mendoza, which could see him go as a top-five pick—potentially No. 2 overall to the New York Jets—assuming the Las Vegas Raiders select Mendoza with the No. 1 pick.
