On Saturday, the Clemson Tigers were already dealing with one disappointing injury, which significantly impacted their chances of turning around the season. A second one has seemingly struck amid their latest loss to the SMU Mustangs.
In Clemson’s latest home game, starting quarterback Cade Klubnik was already on the sidelines due to an injury. Backup Christopher Vizzina replaced him and threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough as the Mustangs won 35-24.
During the third quarter, wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr. was hit hard on the field during a punt return. He exited from the game and went to the locker room, but never returned for Clemson.

At the time he left the game, the severity of his situation was unclear, but recent remarks from head coach Dabo Swinney don't sound encouraging for the Tigers star.
In remarks captured by The Post and Courier's Jon Blau and shared on X, Swinney said Wesco's injury was "a pretty serious deal," and that he was taken to the hospital. The Clemson coach stated everyone was keeping him in their prayers.

Swinney didn't have any additional details about the injury, which arrives as the Tigers have now fallen to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the ACC. Wesco Jr., a sophomore, racked up 31 receptions for 537 and six touchdowns this season.
In addition to Wesco's injury, offensive lineman Collin Sadler was carted off the field and required an air cast. According to Sports Talk Media Network on X, Swinney revealed that X-rays for Sadler were negative.
As mentioned, the team was already without QB Cade Klubnik, who suffered an ankle injury in last week’s 41-10 victory over Boston College. Klubnik has gone 22-12 over three years as the team’s starter. It was the first game he’s missed in his college career.
Next up for Clemson is a home game against the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, Nov. 1. However, Wesco and his injury situation will likely be on their minds as they process the latest loss.
