The No. 23 BYU Cougars fell 75–68 to the No. 4 Arizona Wildcats on Wednesday night, marking their fifth loss in seven games.
Despite the team’s struggles, true freshman and top NBA prospect AJ Dybantsa continues to shine on the court. He finished Wednesday's game with 35 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
Across 33.5 minutes per game, Dybantsa is averaging a country-leading 24.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, while shooting 53.1% from the field, 35.7% from three-point range, and 75.6% from the free-throw line.

“AJ is the best player in the country, and without him this BYU team wouldn’t have even sniffed the tournament. Kevin Young is just a poor coach,” one fan said.
Another added, “He’s so fun to watch. He does everything well.”
One more wrote, “Easy to do, and damn near every trip down the court is ISO ball for him.”
“Only dude that knows how to play basketball,” another fan commented.

This is likely the only year BYU will have with Dybantsa, as he appears to be in a two-man race with Kansas freshman Darryn Peterson for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft, barring any major setbacks.
BYU faces a massive game on Saturday that could keep them in the Top 25 when they host the No. 6-ranked Iowa State Cyclones, as the Cougars enter the final five games of the regular season.
