Prior to the Texas vs. Ole Miss showdown on Saturday, more Arch Manning news has found itself stirring around in the rumor mill.

According to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero, the competition to potentially steal Manning in the transfer portal in the offseason might be closer than one would expect. Like, literally right in front of him come Saturday.

“I texted one person who’s known Arch a long time earlier tonight and I said, ‘where do you see Arch in 2027?’ And his response was Ole Miss,” Pelissero said on the Bill Simmons Podcast.

At this point, it’s not too clear whether Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian will commit to Manning being Texas’ starter come game time.

After two back-to-back losses to Oklahoma and Florida, the Manning tenure at Texas has been drawn into question, with most professionals claiming that the young QB would thrive under another coach’s direction – perhaps in another conference.

According to Sarkisian, Manning might be the starter on Saturday, it “depends.”

“Steve Sarkisian says Arch Manning will be evaluated within Saturday’s game vs. Ole Miss like any other player,” an insider from the Austin American-Statesman said on Thursday. “Removing Manning isn’t limited to a blowout situation.”

He then quoted Sarkisian.

“Just depends,” the coach said during a presser. “Every game is different, ya know? I think Arch has had a good week of work, he’s prepared himself well, but like the team, he needs to play well. And we’ll go from there.”

Other programs that have been tossed around as potential landing spots for Manning include the Miami Hurricanes, Indiana Hoosiers and LSU Tigers.
