The Washington Wizards could soon receive a significant boost to their lineup as one of the NBA's most anticipated rookies moves closer to making his regular-season debut.
AJ Dybantsa has been upgraded to questionable for Wednesday's matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to the Wizards' latest injury report.
The update represents an encouraging development for the No. 1 overall pick, who has yet to appear in a regular-season game after suffering a left ankle sprain during Washington's preseason finale against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Dybantsa has missed the Wizards' first four games while recovering from the injury, but recent developments suggest his long-awaited debut could be approaching.
Washington head coach Brian Keefe provided an encouraging update Monday, explaining that the rookie was making positive progress in his recovery.
Keefe described Dybantsa as "progressing in a very positive way" and indicated that he would participate in additional on-court work Tuesday.
Although the rookie's availability remains uncertain, his upgraded injury designation gives Washington reason for optimism heading into Wednesday's contest.
The 19-year-old entered the NBA with enormous expectations after being selected first overall in the 2026 NBA Draft. During four preseason appearances, Dybantsa averaged 12.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals, offering an early glimpse of his potential.
His return would provide another offensive weapon for a Wizards team looking to establish itself in the Eastern Conference.
Washington enters Wednesday's matchup with a 2-2 record following Monday's 110-103 loss to the Charlotte Hornets.
The Wizards have relied heavily on veterans Anthony Davis and Trae Young while continuing to develop a promising young core that includes Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly and Tre Johnson.
Adding Dybantsa to that group would give Washington another versatile scoring option while allowing the franchise to begin evaluating how its prized rookie fits alongside its established stars.

The Cavaliers, meanwhile, enter the matchup following a 127-125 overtime victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Whether Dybantsa makes his debut Wednesday or requires additional recovery time, his upgraded status represents a meaningful step toward getting Washington's most anticipated young player onto the court.
For a franchise looking to build toward a brighter future, his arrival could mark the beginning of an important new chapter.
