The Golden State Warriors have been one of the least active teams this offseason, and by least active, it means they have not made a single signing.

It's been close to two months since the start of free agency, and the Warriors have yet to make a splash. Heck, they haven't even dipped their toes in the water.

Golden State currently has only 10 players under contract as of late August. The limit for the regular season is 15 players, so it's safe to say that the Warriors have a long way to go.

However, the Warriors' free agency plans all seem to hinge on coveted All-Star free agent, Al Horford.

Horford to the Warriors seems like a favorable outcome; however, nothing has transpired on that front. While that is the case, NBA insider Jake Fischer noted how Golden State may face some competition for the 39-year-old free agent.

"I spoke with another team this week that still has an open roster spot and was at least somewhat hopeful that Horford would lose patience with the wait and suddenly invite new offers, but I don't expect that to happen," Fischer said.

"The team in question, in truth, was realistically as pessimistic as me since it projects Horford to ultimately land a deal with Golden State that pays him the taxpayer midlevel exception in 2025-26 ($5.7 million) and perhaps include a player option for 2026-27 as a reward for his flexibility and patience. It is not yet known whether Horford, who turned 39 in June, will be looking to play beyond this season."

Fischer didn't say exactly who those teams are in the running for Horford, but it would make sense that multiple teams are in on the former All-Star.

Even at age 39, Horford has shown that he can still be a key piece of a title-contending team. The Warriors hope that they can reach that status this upcoming season.

The only thing stopping Horford from signing with the Warriors is the unresolved contract situation with restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga. As soon as the Kuminga drama is resolved, all reports indicate that Horford will sign a deal with Golden State.

It's unclear how much of a real chance other teams have at stealing Horford from the Warriors. Nonetheless, it appears that the former lottery pick will enter his 19th season in the NBA after having contemplated retirement.
