One of the most impressive scoring streaks in NBA history officially came to an end Thursday night.
Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander saw his NBA-record streak of 141 consecutive games with at least 20 points snapped during a 96-84 victory over the Denver Nuggets.
The two-time reigning NBA MVP finished with just 17 points on 6-of-19 shooting, marking his first game with fewer than 20 points since Oct. 30, 2024.

Gilgeous-Alexander entered the matchup having scored at least 20 points in every regular-season appearance since Nov. 1, 2024, a remarkable stretch that lasted nearly two years.
During that run, he surpassed Wilt Chamberlain's previous NBA record of 126 consecutive games with at least 20 points. However, Thursday's matchup against Denver proved to be a difficult offensive night for the Thunder superstar.
Gilgeous-Alexander missed all seven of his field goal attempts in the first half, managing just two points before halftime.
He eventually found his rhythm in the second half, scoring 15 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, but ultimately fell three points short of extending his historic streak.
With Oklahoma City comfortably ahead late in the game, Gilgeous-Alexander elected to leave the floor rather than continue chasing the milestone.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault praised his superstar's decision following the victory.
"He asked out at the end," Daigneault said. "That was his substitution ... of all the things I admire about him, that's toward the top of the list. It shows tremendous class as a competitor."
Despite Gilgeous-Alexander's struggles, Oklahoma City received strong contributions from the rest of its roster.
Jalen Williams led the Thunder with 21 points, while Chet Holmgren added 12 points, 17 rebounds and four blocks.
Denver's Nikola Jokic also struggled offensively, finishing with 13 points on 5-of-19 shooting.

The victory improved Oklahoma City to 2-0 following its season-opening win over the San Antonio Spurs.
Although Gilgeous-Alexander's historic streak has ended, the Thunder demonstrated that they can still win against a Western Conference contender without their superstar delivering his usual scoring performance.
Now, the milestone may be over, but the consistency that produced 141 consecutive 20-point games remains one of the most remarkable accomplishments of Gilgeous-Alexander’s career.
