Grant Afseth shared a video of Flagg getting shots up during the Mavericks’ shootaround in Miami. The reporter noted that:

"Cooper Flagg is getting shots up at Mavs shootaround in Miami. He is listed as questionable to play due to a left shoulder sprain."

Flagg suffered the injury during Friday’s win over the Indiana Pacers. He landed awkwardly on his left shoulder after Aaron Nesmith fouled him from behind during a fastbreak dunk attempt. The officials assessed a Flagrant 1 foul, and Flagg did not return.

An MRI later revealed a mild left shoulder sprain. Flagg missed Saturday’s 122-106 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, with the Mavericks initially saying he would be reevaluated the following week. His participation in shootaround does not guarantee he will play against Miami.

The 2025 Rookie of the Year opened his second NBA season with 32 points against Houston. He then recorded 14 points, five rebounds and six assists in just 17 minutes against Indiana before getting hurt.

The Mavericks’ injury report lists Flagg as questionable. Naji Marshall is out with an illness, while Santi Aldama, Tarik Biberovic and Dereck Lively II are also out. Caleb Martin is doubtful with a right thumb sprain.

Miami lists Pelle Larsson as available despite a left finger sprain.

Flagg’s status will be worth watching closer to tipoff. For Dallas, having its young star available would provide a boost, but the team must weigh that against the risk of aggravating his shoulder.
