Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Bronny James is now fully out his father's shadow in his third NBA season, playing his first professional campaign without LeBron James as a teammate.
The 22-year-old has only appeared in five of the Lakers' first nine games this season though and has spent just 12 minutes on the court.
With Los Angeles' G League affiliate -- the Coachella Valley Lakers -- slated to tip off their 2026-27 season on Friday, the big club is moving the USC product, along with rookie guard Cameron Carr.

The younger James played 27 NBA contests and made one start during his 2024-25 rookie campaign, averaging 2.3 points and 6.7 minutes per game. He went 21-for-67 from the field, 9-for-32 on three-pointers and 11-for-14 on free throws during the regular season and played only four minutes across two contests in Los Angeles' first-round playoff loss versus the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Bronny's playing time increased during his sophomore campaign, as he averaged 2.9 points, 1.2 assists and 8.9 minutes per game in 42 contests (one start). Bronny posted a .409/.386/.857 shooting line in the regular season and then saw the floor in eight of the Lakers' 10 postseason tilts, averaging 5.3 minutes per game.
The Lakers are off to a 7-2 start this fall, which trails only the Portland Trail Blazers (6-1) and LeBron's Philadelphia 76ers (8-1) for the best record in the NBA.
Los Angeles' backcourt is filled with talent like Austin Reaves, Collin Sexton, Luka Doncic and Quentin Grimes, however, leaving little opportunity for Bronny to earn playing time.
