Mike Brown had a funny response when asked about Dalton Knecht's scoring ability.

The New York Knicks head coach did not hold back, jokingly pointing to a perception surrounding the young forward while making it clear that he sees much more than a three-point shooter.

“He's a scorer. He's not just a shooter. A lot of people think he's a shooter because he's white. I said it for you, I hope I don't get in trouble. He can go get it,” Brown said, via SNY.

The comment came after Knecht made an encouraging impression in his Knicks debut against the Chicago Bulls.

Knecht finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. His debut also featured a putback dunk and a chase-down block.

He brings another scoring option to a Knicks bench that has been searching for consistency. He can space the floor, attack closeouts and create opportunities around the basket.

That versatility could become particularly useful as Brown continues to experiment with his rotation. Knecht is currently on a two-way contract, meaning his opportunities with the NBA team will depend on the team's needs and his development.

The Knicks have started to find some rhythm after an uneven opening to the season. Their 135-105 win over Chicago tied a franchise record with 84 first-half points and brought them back to a .500 record.

New York's next challenge comes against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday, Nov. 7, on the road.

Knecht's debut gives Brown another option to consider as the Knicks look to build momentum. If he can provide reliable scoring and contribute defensively, his role could grow beyond the opportunities initially expected.
