The New York Yankees have multiple places they're looking to upgrade this winter. Obviously, they want to re-sign Juan Soto.

In the outfield, they need to re-sign Soto or sign a great replacement outfielder. New York also needs a first baseman and an infielder to replace Anthony Rizzo and Gleyber Torres.

Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller recently ranked the Yankees as the top landing spot for Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Christian Walker. Walker is projected to land a $66 million deal this winter. He would be the ideal Rizzo replacement for the Bronx Bombers.

"Long before the Yankees officially declined Anthony Rizzo's $17 million club option for 2025, the entire world expected them to be in on Walker, as first base was a disaster area for the AL champs in 2024," Miller wrote. "Aside from hanging on to Soto, upgrading at first base is, arguably, the top priority on New York's offseason agenda. And there's a small sample size suggesting Yankee Stadium could be a fantastic home over the next three years for Walker, who has a career 1.127 OPS in six games played there."

Walker is the ideal Yankees first baseman regardless of price. Some suggest that the Yankees should pursue Pete Alonso if they miss on Soto, but Alonso could be $100 million more expensive than Walker.

Walker is more affordable and a better defender than Alonso. With the Yankees looking to fill so many different holes on their roster, signing the veteran Diamondbacks first baseman makes the most sense for the Yankees and it also makes a lot of sense for Walker.
