The New York Yankees are aggressively pursuing Cody Bellinger, but there could be another obstacle in the road.

Brian Cashman and the Yankees reportedly made a second offer to Bellinger and his agent, Scott Boras, on Monday. Later reports revealed the offer was a five-year deal, but the dollar amount was not disclosed.

However, the deal had not been finalized as of Tuesday evening, and MLB insider Ken Rosenthal noted on Tuesday that there could be another twist in the negotiations.

"If not Bellinger, who's the offensive player you're going to get to replace him? That, to me, is a very fair question," Rosenthal said on Tuesday's episode of "Foul Territory."

Rosenthal is hinting at the idea of Bellinger pushing for more out of the Yankees due to their desperation of needing offense. Unless the team signs Kyle Tucker, there isn't another player of that caliber left in free agency that corresponds to the Yankees' needs. Alex Bregman and Bo Bichette are available, but New York does not have a need for either of their positions.

This is music to Boras' ears as he is always trying to get as much money as possible for his players and taking advantage of situations like these. The Yankees don't have anyone to blame but themselves for being in this situation. Trent Grisham's decision to accept the qualifying offer has been the most money they spent on one player so far this offseason.

If the Yankees truly want Bellinger back in the Bronx, they are going to have to put their best offer on the table.
