The New York Yankees have successfully pivoted away from Juan Soto this winter. After missing out on Soto, they acquired Max Fried in free agency before swinging a blockbuster trade for Milwaukee Brewers reliever Devin Williams. Recently, the Yankees acquired Chicago Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger in another huge trade.
FanSided's Rucker Haringey believes one of the next moves on New York's plate could be cutting ties with starting pitcher Marcus Stroman.

"Cashman and his staff have already offloaded Nestor Cortes this offseason but they still have six established starting pitchers for five rotation spots. That makes offloading one more starter a real possibility," Haringey wrote. "Stroman is the pitcher the team would most like to move. He is overpaid compared to his performance on the field and the higher-ups in the Bronx have already shown they don't trust him in the postseason. His bloated salary means New York will have to accept very little in return for the veteran righty."
Trading Stroman would be a great move for the Yankees. Last postseason, Stroman was a healthy scratch from the postseason and World Series rosters after the Yankees paid him nearly $20 million for the season. After adding Fried and Bellinger's contracts, the Yankees should try to move on from Stroman's deal.
Swapping him for an expiring pitcher or just dumping his salary would be best for the Yankees. They could try to trade him now or they may wait for the midseason mark to deal him.
