Judge being given a day off by the Yankees comes just two days after he returned to action for the AL East club. Before this, Judge missed just over three months for the Yankees due to suffering a right rib stress fracture.
While the Yankees are far better with Judge in the lineup, it is understandable that manager Aaron Boone has decided to give him a rest day. New York needs to be cautious with the 34-year-old slugger with the playoffs getting closer, so giving him days off as he continues to shake off the rest makes sense.
In his most recent appearance for the Yankees on Wednesday, Judge went 2-for-4 at the plate. In 61 games this season for the AL East club, he has posted 17 home runs, 38 RBI, and a .249 batting average.
