The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without relief pitcher Evan Phillips for at least the beginning of the World Series.

Phillips, a right-handed reliever, led the Dodgers with 18 saves in 61 appearances during the regular season. He had not allowed a run in five postseason games across 6.2 innings or in any of his 12 postseason appearances dating to the 2021 National League Championship Series.

However, Phillips reportedly suffered an arm injury in his appearance against the New York Mets in Game 6 of the NLCS. According to Juan Toribio of MLB.com, Phillips reported discomfort in his throwing arm after throwing a scoreless inning in which he allowed a hit and two walks.

The Dodgers added right-handed reliever Brusdar Graterol, and left-handed reliever Alex Vesia, to their World Series roster, replacing Phillips and rookie Edgardo Henriquez.

Graterol missed most of the regular season with injuries but has a 2.69 ERA in 178 games with the Dodgers from 2020-24. He's only allowed four runs in 21 postseason innings with Los Angeles during that time.

Vesia made three scoreless appearances for the Dodgers in the National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres. But he missed the NLCS with an intercostal injury he suffered warming up to pitch in the clinching Game 5 against the Padres.

Vesia threw a 15-pitch bullpen session this week, manager Dave Roberts said and was cleared to pitch in the World Series. The top lefty in the Dodgers' bullpen went 5-4 with a 1.76 ERA in 67 regular season appearances.

The Dodgers and New York Yankees submitted their 26-man rosters to Major League Baseball on Friday morning. Game 1 of the World Series begins at 8:08 p.m. ET on Friday night.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the team will carry 13 position players and 13 pitchers, like the Dodgers.

Infielder Miguel Rojas was added to the Dodgers' roster after missing the NLCS with an adductor muscle injury that he has said will require surgery after the season. He replaces outfielder Kevin Kiermaier, who was used primarily as a defensive replacement in his four NLCS appearances.

The Yankees have yet to officially announce their World Series roster. Like the Dodgers, they could add a left-hander to their bullpen.

New York is expected to activate left-handed pitcher Nestor Cortes, who was sidelined for the ALCS with an elbow injury while rostering 13 pitchers and 13 position players.
