The free-agent relief pitching market moved relatively quickly this offseason, but Seranthony Domínguez was the de facto last man standing.
Domínguez was quite good last season, both for the Baltimore Orioles before the trade deadline and for the Toronto Blue Jays from August through the playoff. He surrendered a memorable grand slam to Eugenio Suárez in the American League Championship Series, but picked up a win and six strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings in the World Series.
At long last, Domínguez has found a new team, though the odds of him returning to the Fall Classic this October are admittedly a bit far-fetched.

According to multiple reports, including ESPN's Jeff Passan, Domínguez and the Chicago White Sox agreed to a two-year, $20 million deal on Friday. Passan also reported that the 31-year-old is expected to serve as the closer for the South Siders.
Chicago offloaded outfielder Luis Robert's $20 million salary to the New York Mets in a trade earlier this week, and they wasted no time reallocating that money to improve a lackluster bullpen (at least on paper). Meanwhile, the White Sox had a successful offseason at other positions as well, with the addition of slugging Japanese corner infielder Munetaka Murakami and a few other interesting pieces.
It's tough to call a team that won 60 games last season "exciting" or "on the rise," but there was undeniable progress made from the 41-win White Sox of 2024 who set all sorts of futility records. Trading Garrett Crochet to the Boston Red Sox netted them a superb young catcher in Kyle Teel, a solid on-base threat in Chase Meidroth, and another top prospect in Braden Montgomery.
Shortstop Colson Montgomery clubbed 21 home runs and put up 3.3 bWAR in just 71 games, and between Luisangel Acuña, Miguel Vargas, and Everson Pereira, there are a lot of former top prospects on the roster who could click at some point.
This White Sox team may still have a long way to go before challenging for a playoff spot, particularly on the pitching side, but the presence of a veteran with a proven late-inning track record sets them up nicely to be a much tougher challenge in the American League Central this year.
