The Detroit Tigers should be among baseball's most aggressive teams this offseason after their poor 2026 campaign.
One area that the Tigers could look to strengthen is their bullpen. This is especially so with the Tigers declining reliever Kenley Jansen's team option. Due to this, the Tigers are now being predicted to sign one of this year's top free agent closers.

In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Tim Kelly predicted that the Tigers would sign star closer Raisel Iglesias to a one-year, $16 million in free agency this offseason.

With the Tigers needing bullpen help, it would make a lot of sense if they pursued Iglesias. He would have the potential to provide the Tigers' bullpen with a real boost if signed. This is because he is a dependable and proven reliever who is showing no signs of slowing down at this stage in his career.
Iglesias just had a very good season with the Atlanta Braves in 2026, too. In 59 games, he posted a 2.55 ERA, 34 saves, and 64 strikeouts as an All-Star. He has also had an ERA under 4.00 in each of his last seven seasons. With this, he would be a very good pitcher for a team looking to bounce back, like the Tigers, to add.
