The Boston Red Sox should be on the hunt for new talent after this disappointing postseason.
One area that the Red Sox should aim to strengthen is their starting rotation, especially with Sonny Gray becoming a free agent. Due to this, the Red Sox are now being linked to one of baseball's top trade candidate pitchers.
In a recent article for CBS Sports, Dayn Perry listed the Red Sox among the top potential landing spots for Minnesota Twins star pitcher Joe Ryan.

With the Red Sox needing another star pitcher for the top half of their rotation, it makes sense that they are being linked to Ryan. He would be a very good replacement for Gray, as he has been a star pitcher for multiple seasons now.
However, with Ryan being a high-impact pitcher right in his prime, the Red Sox would need to offer a significant amount to land him. He should generate a good amount of interest, too, which would only add to his trade value.
In 27 games this season with the Twins, Ryan had a 7-10 record, a 3.79 ERA, and 159 strikeouts. This was after the two-time All-Star had a 13-10 record, a 3.42 ERA, and 194 strikeouts in 31 games during the 2025 season with Minnesota. With numbers like these, he would be a big pickup for Boston if they landed him.
