The Boston Red Sox should be looking to make some big moves this offseason after their frustrating postseason.
It is clear that the Red Sox could use more star talent if they hope to be true contenders in 2027. Due to this, they are now being linked to one of baseball's biggest starts with the offseason getting started.
In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Zachary D. Rymer proposed that the Red Sox should trade pitcher Payton Tolle, outfielder Wilyer Abreu, shortstop Franklin Arias, and outfielder Justin Gonzales to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for superstar shortstop Bobby Witt Jr.

This would be a franchise-altering move for both the Red Sox and the Royals if it came to fruition. The Red Sox would get a 26-year-old superstar to build their team around in Witt. The Royals, on the other hand, would get a rising star pitcher in Tolle, a two-time Gold Glove winner in Abreu, and two very exciting prospects. Thus, this would be a major trade if it happened.
Yet, with the Red Sox needing a superstar, it would be understandable if they were willing to make such a massive trade for Witt. He would significantly strengthen the Red Sox's offense and would be a long-term part of their core.
In 143 games this season with the Royals, Witt posted 18 home runs, 45 stolen bases, and a .281 batting average. He is also a three-time All-Star, two-time Gold Glove winner, and two-time Silver Slugger winner. With this, the five-year MLB veteran is a big star and would be a huge pickup for Boston if successfully acquired.
