Kutter Crawford, who missed the 2025 season with multiple injuries, will also factor into that group.

Brayan Bello makes sense as a quality No. 3 starter. The Red Sox now need to solidify the group with a legitimate upgrade for the No. 2 spot. Boston swirled in rumors with Minnesota Twins starter Joe Ryan at the trade deadline. That conversation should be revisited this winter. Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow certainly knows if Boston is to add another starter, that's the baseline of production to seek out.

"What I think we need to do and what we'll do over the course of the offseason is take a step back and really recognize what type of potential pitching acquisitions really move the needle for us because we do have what I would suggest is a strong group of pitching depth," Breslow said on NESN's "310 To Left" podcast. "We want to make sure that any additions that we make actually improve our team.

Adding another All-Star arm between Crochet and Bello is the next step in qualifying the Red Sox as World Series contenders once again.
