The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to make some changes to their roster after a premature postseason exit in 2024. Could president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski pull off a blockbuster deal with the Houston Astros for outfielder Kyle Tucker and relief pitcher Ryan Pressly?

Tucker has been linked to the Phillies multiple times over the past few months. Since the 2025 season could be his last before becoming a free agent, the Astros are at least open-minded to the idea of trading him this winter. Tucker is estimated to earn $16.7 million next season after posting a .993 OPS with 23 home runs and 49 RBI in 339 plate appearances.

Pressly is set to earn $14 million in 2025, which is also his final season before hitting free agency. The two-time All-Star had been Houston's primary closer from 2021-23 before getting supplanted by Josh Hader.

Philly just signed closer Jordan Romano to a one-year deal, but the bullpen could use an arm like Pressly. What could a potential trade proposal look like to bring Pressly and Tucker to the City of Brotherly Love?

Former Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. proposed the following hypothetical deal on MLB Network:

- Phillies receive: outfielder Kyle Tucker and relief pitcher Ryan Pressly

- Astros receive: outfielder Nick Castellanos, third baseman Alec Bohm and either right-handed pitcher Mick Abel or shortstop Starlyn Caba

This is likely working under the assumption Houston won't re-sign free-agent third baseman Alex Bregman. However, it would open the possibility of the Phillies landing the two-time World Series champion.

If Philly acquires Tucker, it makes sense to try and retain him on a long-term contract. Spotrac has pegged his current market value at seven years and $195 million.
