After a big offseason of spending, the New York Mets were expected by many to be a playoff team in 2026. Instead, they have been far from that.
The Mets are having a nightmare season, evidenced by their 43-60 record. With this, they are currently one of the worst teams in baseball and are clear sellers for the 2026 MLB Trade Deadline.
Several Mets have naturally been creating chatter in the rumor mill as trade candidates with the deadline here. However, one specific Mets pitcher has now been named the New York player most likely to be traded by the deadline.

In a recent article for The Athletic, Tim Britton named Brooks Raley as the Mets trade candidate most likely to be moved.
"The Mets have a quintet of impending free agents they’re likely to move at the deadline," Britton wrote. "Raley feels like the safest bet to go — and maybe the first to go."

With the Mets being a non-playoff team and Raley being a pending free agent, it would make sense for New York to move him. Contenders are always on the hunt for bullpen help, and Raley could get New York a solid return in a trade because of it.
Raley's trade value is also higher right now because of how well he is pitching this season for the Mets. In 41 appearances this season with the Mets, the 6-foot-3 lefty has a 4-4 record, a 1.96 ERA, and 38 strikeouts. With numbers like these, he would be a great pickup for a playoff team needing bullpen help.
A few teams that could make sense as landing spots for the 38-year-old Raley include the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Tampa Bay Rays, and Boston Red Sox.
