A trade for Ozuna would not make a ton of sense without one of the Cubs outfielders being shipped back to Atlanta in the return. With both Kyle Tucker and Pete Crow-Armstrong seemingly being untouchable, that leaves left fielder Ian Happ as the only option.
Happ is the worst of the three Cubs outfielders and moving off him would allow current DH Seiya Suzuki to move back to the outfield and open up the spot for Ozuna to slide into the lineup.
He is the longest tenured member of the organization, so a departure from Chicago could be a tough pill to swallow for the front office.
The possible addition of Ozuna to the Cubs lineup would give them the second right-handed power bat to help counter some of the dominant left-handed arms on playoff-caliber teams such as Jesus Luzardo of the Philadelphia Philles or Robbie Ray of the San Francisco Giants.
While it is unclear on what the chances of either Ozuna or Happ being moved are, a trade between the two teams makes sense on the surface and could be the move Chicago needs to make to add a bit more thump to its lineup.
