The Los Angeles Dodgers took down the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-1, in the National League Division Series. The playoff series was deemed the matchup baseball fans had been waiting for as two NL powerhouses squared off in the early days of October.

Each game was intense, and Game 4 of the NLDS was no exception. The Dodgers won on a wild walk-off error in the 11th inning.

Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages hit a comebacker to Phillies reliever Orion Kerkering, who tossed an errant throw to home. That was all LA needed to score the winning run and advance to the NLCS.

Following the Dodgers' 2-1 win over the Phillies, manager Dave Roberts chose to begin his time speaking to the media with a message to the Phillies.

"First off, I'll start. I want to congratulate the Phillies on a tremendous season. First-class organization. Dombo, Rob, their organization, their players, how they put together things," Roberts said. "It was a war. It was a battle.

"And classic, instant classic game. And I just want to just congratulate those guys on a great year."

Phillies manager Rob Thomson also heaped high praise for the Dodgers, specifically their pitching staff. Game 4 began as a pitchers' duel between Tyler Glasnow and Cristopher Sanchez, but the game was ultimately decided in extras.

"The Dodgers have really good pitching. So their lineup is good, too, and they didn't score a whole lot of runs either," Thomson said. "It really comes down to the pitching. They pitched great. We pitched great. It was a well-fought series. They came out on top, unfortunately, and that's the way it is. I feel awful."

The Dodgers will continue their journey through October as the defending champions advance to the NL Championship Series. LA's opponent will be determined Saturday in a decisive Game 5 between the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs.

The winner of that matchup will then face the Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLCS on Monday, Oct. 13.
