The setback leaves Stone, who led the Dodgers in innings pitched in 2024, with no timetable to return. The right-hander was expected to be a key member of the team's pitching staff in 2026 after missing all of last season recovering from shoulder surgery.

In his breakout 2024 season, Stone led the Dodgers in wins (11), starts (25) and innings (140.1) before succumbing to a season-ending shoulder injury that ultimately required surgery.

Stone did not pitch in the postseason as the Dodgers marched to the first of two consecutive World Series championships.

Stone underwent surgery on Oct. 9, 2024. During the procedure, team physician Dr. Neal ElAttrache discovered that a bone was scraping against Stone's shoulder capsule.

In addition to addressing that issue, Stone needed a partial labrum repair and a partial rotator cuff repair. His road back to the mound has already been a long one.

Last season, Stone was relegated to life on the rehab trail as the Dodgers won the World Series again, becoming the first team in 25 years to win back-to-back championships.

Stone was healthy enough to pitch a scoreless inning, striking out two batters, against the Cleveland Guardians on Feb. 24 in his Cactus League debut.
