The Los Angeles Dodgers are getting two key players back from the injured list this week. Utility man Kiké Hernández and closer Edwin Díaz are reportedly returning on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, according to The Athletic's Katie Woo.

The Dodgers will be back in Los Angeles after three straight series on the road. The defending World Series champions will be facing the Seattle Mariners in a series starting on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium.

Hernández Has Only Played Two Games This Season

Hernández started the 2026 season on the injured list after undergoing elbow surgery in November. The Dodgers activated him from the 60-day IL in May, and he played in two games where he went 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run.

But then, the three-time World Series champion quickly landed back on the IL with an oblique strain. He told reporters he suffered the injury during batting practice before his first game back from the elbow surgery.

Hernández was initially given an 8-12 week recovery timeline. He is returning after approximately nine weeks.

The Dodgers are expected to option infielder Alex Freeland to Triple-A to make space for Hernández.

Díaz Has Been Out Since April

After signing a three-year, $69 million deal with the Dodgers in free agency this offseason, Díaz quickly landed on IL with loose bodies in his right elbow in April. He underwent surgery to remove those loose bodies.

Díaz was expected to be the primary closer for the Dodgers this season, but he threw just six innings across seven appearances before the organization placed him on the IL.

The right-hander has made six rehab appearances and will make his final rehab outing on Sunday. Across his six rehab appearances, Díaz has allowed two hits and run while striking out nine batters in five innings.
