Los Angeles Dodgers superstar pitcher Tarik Skubal is this year's top MLB pending free agent.
If Skubal hits the free agent market, there is no question that he is going to generate a plethora of interest around the league. Yet, with the Dodgers being big spenders and looking to win the World Series in 2027, they will surely work hard to re-sign him.
However, the Dodgers have now gotten a new Skubal prediction, and it would undoubtedly be a nightmare for them if it came to fruition.

In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Kerry Miller predicted that the San Diego Padres will be the team that signs Skubal in free agency this offseason.
If the Padres landed Skubal, it would undoubtedly be bad news for the Dodgers. This is because the Padres are one of the Dodgers' biggest rivals and are already their biggest threat in the NL West. Landing Skubal would only make San Diego an even better team.
Yet, given the Padres' need for pitching help, the possibility of them making a big push for Skubal this offseason can't be ruled out. He is exactly the kind of superstar pitcher that could help the Padres take that next step as contenders. Thus, they could be a team to keep an eye on in Skubal's market this offseason.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if the Dodgers can avoid this potential scenario and re-sign Skubal this offseason from here. In 10 games with the Dodgers this season after being acquired from the Detroit Tigers ahead of the trade deadline, he had a 5-2 record and a 2.61 ERA.
