The St. Louis Cardinals beat the New York Mets 2-1 on Wednesday thanks to a walk-off single by Masyn Winn in the bottom of the 11th inning.
It was Winn's first career walk-off RBI. Unfortunately, after the game, Winn was involved in a car crash. It was a single-car crash on Interstate 64, according to a statement released by the Cardinals.
"Following (Wednesday's) game, Masyn Winn was involved in a single-car accident on Interstate 64/Highway 40 due to wet pavement," the statement read. "Masyn, who was alone in the vehicle, was attended to by local police and Cardinals security and medical staff. He was examined at a nearby hospital and suffered no serious injuries. We are grateful that he is OK, and thank the first responders in our community who helped Masyn (Wednesday)."

Luckily, nobody was injured in the crash, and Winn seems to be all right. It is certainly a scary situation for the Cardinals, who have gotten off to a 4-2 start.
Winn hit .253 with nine home runs last season. His numbers were slightly down from 2024, and this year, he is just 4-for-25 to start the season. However, his bloop single to walk off the Mets could get him going.
“I think a swinging bunt was my first hit last year -- I think that’s what got me going,” Winn said, per MLB.com. “So maybe it’s something like that... At some point, I’m going to get hot, for sure.”
The Cardinals had Thursday off, and will return to action on Friday against the Detroit Tigers. The team could look to give Winn a day off, but his Gold Glove defense at shortstop is tough to keep out of the lineup.
