The Winter Olympics are full of emotions in Milano Cortina, Italy, including the thrills of winning medals and the agony of defeat.

Mikaela Shiffrin was disappointed with her most recent event, the women's combined alpine downhill skiing event. During her slalom portion of the event, Shiffrin's run down the slope wasn't enough to help her and her partner, Breezy Johnson, win a medal.

That was despite Johnson performing admirably in her portion of the downhill skiing, to keep her and Shiffrin in contention. While their Team USA teammates claimed the bronze in the event, Shiffrin and Johnson were hoping to also place on the podium.

Meanwhile, Johnson's Winter Olympics have featured somewhat of a roller coaster. She initially claimed Team USA's first gold medal in skiing, then went on to suffer that fourth-place finish with Shiffrin.

More recently, Johnson participated in the women's Super-G final on Thursday. She was unable to finish this event due to a crash, but still had quite the surprise at the finish line, as her boyfriend, Connor Watkins, popped the question, asking for Johnson's hand in marriage.

According to People, she said yes to his proposal, which included him getting down on one knee and reciting Taylor Swift's quote, "Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy," from her song "The Alchemy." That made for a fantastic finish for Johnson at her final event in the Winter Olympics,

Her friend and teammate Shiffrin was among those sending congratulations her way. Shiffrin reshared the Instagram carousel of photos showing the happy couple together and the beautiful snow-covered mountains behind them.

“OMG!! Congrats @breezyjohnsonski,” she wrote on her IG Story slide, adding the party face, happy face, and crying face emojis.

Days ago, Johnson was among those comforting her teammate as they hugged after failing to medal in the combined event.

While Shiffrin failed to medal in her first event at Milano Cortina, she’s got another chance coming up. The Team USA skiing sensation is competing in the giant slalom on Sunday, Feb. 15, at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre slopes.
