Mauricio Pochettino is one month removed from leading the U.S. men's national team to the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA men's World Cup, and he's sticking around to try to improve on that result.

U.S. Soccer announced Monday, Aug. 3, that Pochettino signed a contract extension to remain the USMNT manager through the 2030 World Cup, per ESPN's Jeff Carlisle.

"Working together with U.S. Soccer over the past two years, it has become clear to us that there is tremendous potential to make the Men's National Team program even stronger," Pochettino said in a statement, per Carlisle. "The passion we experienced from the fans throughout the World Cup only strengthened our belief in what is possible here. We are excited by the opportunity to bring all our experience and knowledge to even more areas of U.S. Soccer while helping strengthen the pathways for players, coaches and teams across the Federation."

Before taking over the USMNT, Pochettino served as manager at at Chelsea FC (2023-24), Paris Saint-Germain (2021-22), Tottenham (2014-19), and Southampton (2013-14). Before the World Cup, there had been chatter that he was interested in returning to the club level and fulfilling AC Milan's vacancy, but he opted to finish what he started in the U.S.
