Paul has been very vocal about taking on upper-echelon boxers, and he has named Davis in his potential opponents before. Now, it appears "The Problem Child" finally gets one of his wishes.

While Chavez was certainly a tough test, given his former record and accolades in the sport of boxing. However, Davis is a far more dangerous opponent.
Davis has a perfect 30-0-1 record and suffered his first draw in his career against Lamont Roach back in March. While the consensus was that Davis would rematch Roach, he is instead setting his sights on Paul.
Davis is the current WBA lightweight champion, and a loss to Paul could rocket him into challenging for a championship sooner than expected.
Considering the pair have reportedly agreed to an exhibition match, it would mean that Paul will not be able to win the WBA lightweight title. It would also be believed that the pair might meet at middleweight.
According to DAZN, Paul stated what could be possible for a Davis matchup.
"Speaking in May, Paul suggested that any bout would have to be an exhibition, and would be held at 195lbs over ten three-minute rounds, despite the latter's typical 135lb weight."

Paul also spoke exclusively to Newsweek Sports about facing Davis back in March, and that the pair's camps have had discussions.
"Definitely. There's been discussions for sure behind the scenes, and I think it's something we both really want to happen," Paul stated.
Now, it appears that the fight has come to fruition.
