Brandel Chamblee's comments about Bryson DeChambeau being a difficult player to pair up have quickly spread throughout the golfing world. When asked about it, several members of the US team said things very different from what the well-known golf commentator argued.
On Monday, Chamblee expressed the opinion that DeChambeau is a complicated player to set on the Ryder Cup team. He added to this comment by questioning the reliability of DeChambeau's success on YouTube.
As of Tuesday, the two-time major champion's YouTube channel, one of the most popular among those associated with the sport, had more than 2.4 million followers. Chamblee said that some of it comes from bots.

Both Scottie Scheffler and Keegan Bradley took time during their respective press conferences on Tuesday to highlight DeChambeau's positive impact on the team. They were joined by Xander Schauffele, who spoke in similar terms.
"I feel like Bryson could be like the difference for us in a strange way, from the standpoint of feeding into these fans, the style of golf he plays, and also how … like, you look at me, I'll make a putt, and you won't see too much of a reaction. That's just who I am. That's kind of how I operate,” Schauffele said during his press conference, as shown in the video posted by TenGolf on YouTube. “Maybe it might change this week. Who knows? These Ryder Cups kind of bring out the best in you at times.
"But Bryson's like, this is his arena. If he views himself as like a gladiator golfer, this is as good as it gets. He's been awesome. He's been awesome in the team room. And I'm excited to sort of see what he can do and hopefully get a lot of points up on the board because his points might hit harder than maybe my points, for example, just because of how he might celebrate and get these fans in this tournament quickly."
DeChambeau and Schauffele have only been in the same American Ryder Cup once. That was in the 2021 edition at Whistling Straits, where they did not play together, but their team won comfortably 19-9.
They also made the US team for the 2019 Ryder Cup, where they also lifted the title.
