The PGA Tour 2025 season concluded Sunday, with Tommy Fleetwood snapping his winless drought. Patrick Cantlay, meanwhile, fell just short of winning his second FedEx Cup title, having won it previously in 2021.
Cantlay finished tied for second with Russell Henley at 15-under. But the former UCLA Bruin came under fire on social media during the final round for his pace of play.
Fans were less than thrilled with how long many of his shots took.

During the final round, Cantlay seemed to take forever to tee off.
Media member Jason Page tweeted "If you watch, you can actually see the grass growing under Patrick Cantlay's feet. Brutal."
Phil Mickelson, a PGA Tour legend who now plays for LIV Golf, caught the comment and decided to take another angle.
"He shuffled his right foot 26 times. 26 TIMES before he hit it. 26 x 36 other shots is 936 foot shuffles," Mickelson retweeted on X.
"That's more calf raises than I'll ever do. You also must be in peak physical condition to do this daily so let's stop all the hate and appreciate that golfers are athletes."

Golfers are undeniably athletes. Where the rank among some of the best professional athletes may not be as favorable, but players work at their craft nonstop just like other athletes.
Ironically, in the video where Cantlay takes forever to tee off, his found the rough and bogeyed the hole, dropping him out of first place.
Cantlay hopes he did enough to warrant considering from Keegan Bradley to be named one of his six captain's picks for the Ryder Cup.
There are several others in the conversation for one of the coveted spots on Team USA. But a T2 finish at the Tour Championship certainly put Cantlay back in the conversation.
