More than a year and a half after the framework agreement was signed in June 2023, negotiations between the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) appear to be moving towards a resolution. In fact, the current month of February 2025 has seen a flurry of events, including two meetings with President Donald Trump at the White House.
This rush of events has generated streams of information circulating on all platforms. One of the most recent is also one of the least likely: Golf Channel's Rex Hogard reported that the LIV Golf players could be returning to the PGA Tour as soon as next month's PLAYERS Championship.
"I'll go one step further," Hoggard said, according to The Golfing Gazette. "I could say the possibility of next month with The Players Championship looming. I spoke to one LIV player who has actually heard from the PGA Tour about the possibility of showing up at the flagship event,"

However, not all those involved believe that this is possible, or at least that it will not be implemented immediately. Golf Magic quoted one PGA Tour player, who asked not to be identified, as saying that his position, and that of many of his colleagues, is to wait and see how events unfold.
"All I'd say is, I don't think that's a likely scenario," the unnamed player said.

During his commentary, Hoggard also shared his thoughts on the possible inclusion of LIV Golf players in the field for the PGA Tour's flagship event one month from now.
Hoggard is one of golf's most respected journalists, having covered the sport for more than 25 years for major media outlets including Golfweek and Golf Channel.
"Let's put that into context," Hoggard said. "The message that sends to fans is that 'yes, we understand you, we hear you, we know you want the game to be reunited, we know you want to see the best players from both tours playing against each other more often'. That would be a very powerful statement."
LIV players are prohibited from playing in any event under the umbrella of the PGA Tour. If this rule were eliminated, several of the top stars in this league would be eligible to play in The PLAYERS Championship, including Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson, Tyrrel Hatton, Dustin Johnson and Cameron Smith.
Contacts between the PGA Tour and the PIF have intensified in recent months. Even the heads of the two organizations, Jay Monahan and Yasir Al-Rumayyan, have met in person at least three times since last October, when they played a round together at the DP World Tour's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Pro-Am event.
They met again a month later at the Ladies European Tour's Aramco Team Series Riyadh. Finally, they met with President Donald Trump at the White House a few days ago, a meeting that also included player directors Tiger Woods and Adam Scott.
