LIV Golf star Lucas Herbert found himself facing the cut line when he teed off on his second round at the Open Championship after firing an even-par, 70.
18 holes later he sat atop the leaderboard after tying major championship history with an eight-under, 62. Following a one-over round of 71 on Saturday, Herbert now sits three shots off the lead of Sam Burns, who tied Herbert's 62 on Friday and took the overall lead with a five-under, 65 on Saturday.
The LIV Golf star knows Burns will be tough to track down, especially with the close shaves he's received in majors over the past few years.

More golf: Lucas Herbert ‘Disappointed’ After Tying Major History at Open Championship
"I think Sam Burns is going to be a man possessed," Herbert said. "Given his results in majors and him not winning one, I think he's going to be very tough to beat. I'm not thrilled about giving him a three-shot head start, but we are where we are."
Herbert is referencing the recent form of Burns, who had a chance to send the U.S. Open to a playoff with a putt on No. 18 that he left just an inch outside the cup. Just a year prior, Burns was in contention at the major tournament when he received an unfortunate ruling that eventually derailed his chances to win.
He enters the final round of the Open Championship with a two-shot lead over Si Woo Kim and Ryan Fox and sits three shots ahead of Herbert and PGA Tour newcomer Ryan Gerard.
