The PGA Tour returned to action on Thursday morning with the 3M Open, the first tournament following the Open Championship where Ryan Fox emerged victorious.

Ahead of the tournament a number of golfers opted to withdraw, including Fox, who is giving himself some time to rest – and celebrate – following his first major victory. Unfortunately for one golfer who decided to tee it up, though, he was left withdrawing following the first round of the tournament.

The PGA Tour's communications department announced Patton Kizzire withdrew with a back injury following his first round.

Kizzire played all 18 holes on Thursday, but turned in a brutal score.

His day started just fine with a par on No. 1, but was derailed early when he carded a triple-bogey on No. 2 to sit three over and well outside the cut line. He added two more bogeys on the front nine to sit at five-over before mounting a slight comeback with a birdie on No. 10 and eagle on No. 12 to move back to two-over.

He immediately gave those shots back with a double-bogey on No. 13 and bogey on No. 14 before adding yet another bogey on No. 18 to finish the day six-over.
