Brandel Chamblee, a familiar voice on Golf Channel, rocked the sport on Monday with his sharp critique of Bryson DeChambeau. True to form, the two-time major champion responded quickly -- though in a manner that defied expectations.

It's no secret that Chamblee doesn't have the highest opinion of DeChambeau, at least when it comes to his commitment to LIV Golf. However, his recent comment touched on other sensitive issues, both for the player and for the American Ryder Cup team.

"He didn't talk about playing on a team and how much that meant. Nope, he didn't do that,” Chamblee said on the Ryder Cup Monday broadcasting, as seen in a video posted to X by Fried Egg Golf's Brendan Porath. “What he did do was talk about his YouTube channel, which, you know, if we want to talk about the numbers that are generated from that, it's pretty dubious. I have no doubt that bots are generating a lot of those views."

"No doubt he's one hell of a golfer," he added later in the same comment. "No doubt he has his moments of generosity with fans. I've heard about him, but he's an odd duck when he's trying to blend in with the team, and he has so many potential bulletin board mistakes, and I think he would be a captain's nightmare."

Several of his teammates, including Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schaufele, as well as captain Keegan Bradley, responded to the second comment to highlight DeChambeau's positive impact on the team.

Amid this flurry of statements, DeChambeau has surprised many by being one of the few members of Team USA not to have given a press conference. However, he has not failed to respond to Chamblee in his own particular style.

A video posted on X by the Tee Times account shows DeChambeau signing autographs while hundreds of fans crowd the barriers to get his signature. At one point, the LIV Golf star turns to the camera and delivers a short but powerful message.

"Did Brandel say something yesterday? I don't know what it was."

DeChambeau is expected to hold a press conference on Thursday, one day before the start of the competitive part of the Ryder Cup. Chamblee's comments are sure to be on the agenda.
