The Indiana Fever again haven't been able to break through despite having one of the most talented rosters in the WNBA. Their 2026 season came to an end after losing their first-round playoff series against the Las Vegas Aces, who were then swept by the Golden State Valkyries just one week later.

Even with the highest-scoring offense in WNBA history, averaging 96 points per game during the regular season, the Fever again fell short of expectations, suffering a first-round playoff exit on Caitlin Clark's third year as the franchise centerpiece.

Now, the organization is hitting the reset button. On Friday, team president Kelly Krauskopf announced she would step down, and general manager and COO Amber Cox was let go just hours later.

However, while the team appears willing to go in another direction from a managerial standpoint, head coach Stephanie White is expected to keep her position, according to USA Today's Meghan L. Hall.

Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aliyah Boston have given the Fever a powerful offensive trio, but defensive struggles remain the biggest thing holding Indiana back from becoming a championship contender. They allowed 95 points per game in their series against Vegas, the most of any playoff team this season. Falling out in the first round of the postseason isn't exactly what fans were hoping to see either, given that they made the semifinals last year.

Fever fans have been criticizing White for years now, questioning her decision-making when it comes to rotations, late-game execution, and how the team has been managing Clark and building around their young star. Another early playoff exit hasn't done anything to get fans on her side, but the organization appears committed to White nonetheless.

Things have gotten so bad in Indiana that recent trade rumors have even surfaced around Clark, though it feels unlikely the Fever would be so willing to move off the face of their franchise and one of the best players in basketball. Still, it's clear the team can't afford a repeat of this season. With questions surrounding Clark, Mitchell's future in Indiana, and how the team plans to address its defensive woes, this will be a pivotal offseason for the Fever.
