It didn't take long for the Chicago Sky's game against the Indiana Fever to go off the rails at United Center in Chicago on Saturday afternoon.

The Sky (12-19) and Fever (19-12) were locked in a back-and-forth contest late in the first quarter when Indiana's Sophie Cunningham went for a layup in transition. Chicago's DiJonai Carrington flew in for the block, and her arm caught Cunningham in the face.

Cunningham crashed to the floor but quickly got up to get in Carrington's face, yelling and eventually shoving Carrington in the chest. Both players kept jawing, while Cunningham had to be restrained.

After review, officials elevated Carrington's foul to a Flagrant 2, ejecting her from the game. ESPN cameras caught a shocked Carrington's immediate reaction, seemingly saying, "A 2?!" Meanwhile, Cunningham gave the referee's decision a good golf clap.

DiJonai Carrington #7 of the Chicago Sky

...

Carrington, a six-year WNBA veteran in her first season with the Sky, had eight points in four minutes off the bench when she exited to the locker room.

Shortly after getting ejected, Carrington took to Threads, writing, "WHITE PRIVILEGE @indianafever."

As of this writing, the Fever and Sky game is still in the second half, so neither Cunningham nor anyone from the Fever have commented on the play or Carrington's post. But based on how mainstream media has covered the WNBA in recent weeks — and, really, in recent years — it seems all but guaranteed that Carrington's foul on Cunningham will sprout headlines extending well beyond the United Center.
