The Chicago Sky have suffered through yet another disappointing season in 2025. Despite seeing Angel Reese take a step in the right direction in year two, the team as a whole has been unable to win consistently.
So far, the Sky hold a 7-21 record. That clearly was not what the team was targeting heading into this season.
With that in mind, could Chicago consider being active ahead of the NBA trade deadline? The deadline arrives on Thursday and the Sky have been linked to an intriguing potential trade candidate.

Adding more help for Reese should be a priority for Chicago. One name has been suggested as a possible target.

Meghan L. Hall of USA Today has suggested the Sky potentially being a trade fit for Washington Mystics forward Aaliyah Edwards.
"Edwards was left on the outside looking in as Washington turned to Iriafen and veterans Shakira Austin and Stefanie Dolson," Hall wrote. "In July, ESPN reported Washington had begun accepting offers for the second-year forward. If she is moved, the Valkyries or Chicago Sky, who could use productive depth, make sense."
Edwards is not a "star," but she could become a quality role player for Chicago.
During the 2025 WNBA season thus far, Edwards has played in 20 games for the Mystics. She has not started a game yet, but has averaged 6.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in 13.7 minutes per game, while shooting 47.8 percent from the floor.
At 23 years old, the former UConn Huskies star in college would be worth taking a look at.

As for Reese, she has improved her numbers from her rookie season. In the 23 games she has played in and started, the 23-year-old forward has averaged 14.2 points per game to go along with 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals, while shooting 44.4 percent from the floor.
Reese is clearly the franchise cornerstone for the Sky moving forward. She has more room to continue growing her game, especially on the offensive end of the court.
Bringing in more help around her will be needed for Chicago to become a contender. Edwards may not end up being a target for the Sky, but she seems like a solid target with the trade deadline coming up quickly.
