After winning two Olympic gold medals at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics, Alysa Liu is experiencing the ups and downs of being a popular star.

While the benefits might include meeting celebrities, appearing on programs like NBC's "Today" or "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," and securing new sponsorship and endorsement deals, there are also some drawbacks.

Those include social media issues, such as impostor accounts attempting to scam her fans and fans chasing her, as she recently detailed. Liu, 20, shared another update with her fans about a recent incident, including a plea to others as she travels to various spots.

Taking to her Instagram Story early Thursday morning, Liu shared a slide featuring a popular GIF of a stuffed-animal monkey giving a worried look to the camera.

"So I land at the airport, & there's a crowd waiting at the exit with cameras & things for me to sign. All up in my personal space. Someone chased me to my car bruh," Liu wrote, also telling fans, "Please do not do that to me."

Liu has been enjoying all of the spotlight, which also included her participating in a post-Olympics showcase in Boston, on the opposite coast from her home in California. In a recent Teen Vogue interview, she revealed that she enjoyed getting some downtime after her nonstop Olympics experience.

"After I won, [there] was no sleep…. I went home and I literally did whatever I wanted for five days. I didn't have any media, and I had no commitments, so it was really great. I got to see a lot of my friends again, and just relax and catch up on sleep. I skated twice just because I wanted to," she said.

Liu's recent update about being chased follows soon after she warned fans about various fake accounts pretending to be her online and attempting to scam others, another problem that often arises for many individuals as they gain popularity.

The United States figure skating star gained a massive boost in her social media following after two big wins and much spotlight at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Her significant wins in Milano Cortina, Italy, included a gold medal in a team skating competition with Team USA teammates, and then her massive win in the women's figure skating event.

For now, the two-time gold medalist appears to be embracing her big moment—while reminding passionate fans that a little personal space can go a long way.
