The SoulCalibur VI roster continues to grow, with Bandai Namco revealing Siegfried as the next playable character in its upcoming fighting game. A new trailer for the game, which you can watch above, reveals Siegfried will join SoulCalibur VI, showing off some of the young warrior's fighting style.

Siegfried will be familiar to fans of the series as the man cursed and corrupted by the Soul Edge blade, who eventually becomes the monstrous Nightmare. Interestingly enough, Nightmare is also a playable character in SoulCalibur VI, so the two will play alongside each other. In SoulCalibur V, Siegfried and Nightmare were also separate playable characters.

Here's the official Bandai Namco description of Siegfried in the SoulCalibur series from the press release.

"His story began in the original Soul Edge, when Siegfried appeared as a young German man with short blond hair, blue eyes, and the will and strength to take-on all challengers. Throughout the SoulCalibur series, Siegfried has continued to mature, change in appearance as he's become more battle worn, and gain greater strength and skill in the arena of battle."

SoulCalibur VI acts as a sort of reboot for the franchise, revisiting the events of the first game in the series. With both Nightmare and Siegfried playable, fans should expect to see Siegfried's corruption and transformation into Nightmare play out.

The addition of Siegfried brings the SoulCalibur VI roster number to 10, which includes Nightmare, Sophitia, Mitsurugi, Geralt from The Witcher series, Kilik, Groh, Ivy, Zasalamel and Xianghua.

SoulCalibur VI will release for PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2018.
