We're only one week into the new MLB season, but panic is starting to set in for a struggling Boston Red Sox team that has lost five straight games.

Boston can't seem to get it done on either side of the ball, losing back-to-back games to the Cincinnati Reds after an opening day win before getting swept by the Houston Astros. The Red Sox's starting rotation has struggled immensely so far, and the offense is not doing much better, scoring more than two runs in only half of their games.

A lot of expectations for the Red Sox's success this season have been placed on 21-year-old star Roman Anthony, especially after the team lost Alex Bregman in free agency. With Boston's early struggles, one clear takeaway is that "Anthony is human," according to MLB.com's Ian Browne.

"Considering that Anthony is all of 21 years old, the amount of expectations that have been put on him to carry the Red Sox in a post-Rafael Devers and post-Alex Bregman world has been a little much," Browne wrote Wednesday. "It does speak to Anthony’s immense talent and poise. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t some lumps still to be taken.

"After getting three hits and reaching base four times on Opening Day, Anthony went 1-for-18 in his next four games. However, Anthony did go home on a positive note with a pinch-hit homer in the ninth in Wednesday’s loss in Houston. One thing that will help take pressure off Anthony is for Boston’s other key hitters -- beyond Wilyer Abreu -- to start producing."

Anthony excelled in his rookie season, slashing .292/.396/.463 with eight home runs and 32 runs batted in, but has struggled at the plate so far this season, aside from mashing a home run while pinch-hitting on Wednesday.

Though Anthony is predicted to have a great season with a ton of expectations on him, he's still only 21 years old and in his second season in the big leagues. It's normal for him to have his share of struggles throughout the season.
