For a cat rescuer from California, mornings begin exactly at 5:44 a.m., with a carefully structured routine to care for the 20 cats and one pup living in her home.
In a viral TikTok video shared in April under the username @catladyburner, she details her morning routine, feeding the pets, cleaning their space, and maintaining a safe environment, all of which takes over two and half hours to complete.
"It's a full-time job," the poster, 33-year-old Karly, told Newsweek, explaining that every cat in her care was rescued, often from harsh conditions.

"We have 20 wonderful rescue kitties here. They all have their own little personalities and quirks. Most have had a really rough outside life before being brought in. Some have had really scary health conditions that took months of treatment. It's a very hard life for cats outdoors."

...
"They have to deal with cars, predators, cruel humans, diseases and more. We bring them in so they don't ever have to worry about these things again. They are all healthy and happy! Our house is full of love with them here!" she said.
Karly pointed out that there is a huge feral cat population in her area, which is also a popular spot for dumping kittens, so she takes them in to give them a chance.
"I take in the ferals that are usually not able to be adopted. It takes time and patience to get them used to indoor life, but they all end up loving it and so happy! With the friendly cats, I try and get them adopted to a loving home. If I'm not able to find a home that's a good fit for them, they stay here," she added.
It is estimated that there are between 60 and 100 million feral cats living in America, and their lives are often rough and short.
Being outdoors exposes them to several risks, including catching diseases such as herpes viral conjunctivitis, feline AIDS, leukemia, and infectious peritonitis, according to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
Feral cats are also a threat to wildlife, killing millions of birds and small mammals across the country every year, including endangered species.
The video quickly went viral on TikTok and it has so far received over 90,900 views and 15,400 likes on the platform.
One user, NaniNieto19, commented: "Proof you can be a clean cat lady lol they are definitely well take care of."
Vanessa said: "You out here living my dream life... Thank you for taking care of all those little babies!"
Jimenpg added: "I can tell you really love your animals."
