Toronto Blue Jays star infielder Bo Bichette is headed for free agency once the World Series concludes. Bichette is going to hit the open market after an incredible season, which should only cause his market to grow.
There are bound to be at least five or 10 teams interested in Bichette, even if he's demanding a huge contract. The Athletic's Jim Bowden recently projected Bichette would sign for $189 million over seven years.
Bowden also linked the rival Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees to Bichette as potential suitors in free agency.

"Bichette was leading the American League in hits before he suffered a left knee sprain on Sept. 6 that ended his regular season," Bowden wrote. "He batted .311/.357/.483 with 44 doubles, 18 home runs and 94 RBIs, a huge bounce-back season after a career-worst 2024. He’s led the AL in hits twice in the last five years and has a career batting average of .294. He’s a below-average defender at shortstop, however, and several interested teams view him as an option for third base going forward.
"His prime years have just begun and he’s one of the youngest free agents on the market, though he has dealt with several lower body injuries the past couple of years. As long as teams have a clear sense of the health of his knee, Bichette will have plenty of suitors in free agency because he could be considered a fit as a shortstop, a third baseman or a second baseman."
The Red Sox are at risk of losing Trevor Story or Alex Bregman this winter. This opens up the left side of their infield for prospects, but if they can sign Bichette, that's the much better move.
The Yankees need infielders as badly as any team in baseball. Adding Bichette would provide an immediate upgrade at whatever position he ends up playing.
At the end of the day, Bichette is likely headed for the highest bidder, which firmly places the Yankees and Red Sox in the mix.
