Looking for a new lunch place that serves the same fresh produce you just saw at a roadside farm stand? Look no more: farm-to-table restaurants have sprouted across the country in recent years, providing hungry patrons with a closer look at how local meats and vegetables get onto waiting plates. Our fresh-picked list features top dining outlets that specialize in homegrown ingredients, just-off-the-boat seafood and scrumptiously clean cuisine you can feel good about.

These 10 farm-to-table restaurants were selected by our featured panelists and contributors and voted on by readers as the best of the best.

1. The Farm Cafe at Kahuku Farms | Kahuku, HI

As you take a wagon ride through the lovely grounds of Kahuku Farms, you just might see the acai berries, papayas and vanilla beans that'll be part of your next meal. The Farm Cafe sources everything locally, whether it's grown on site or brought in from a neighboring island. You'll love the melt-in-your-mouth passionfruit butter mochi, a creative twist on a beloved Hawaiian dessert.

2. Foray Restaurant | Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA

The flavors of the Pacific Ocean and California's redwood forests unite at Foray, where you'll find local delicacies like red abalone, black cod and truffles foraged by the chef's dog, Falco. The restaurant sources everything from foraging (try the foraged huckleberry pie!) and the nearby Del Monte Farmers Market. And the shucked shells from Foray's delicious shigoku oysters go back into San Francisco Bay to rebuild its ecosystem.

3. Grove | Grand Rapids, MI

At Grove, experience simple Midwestern staples like beets, pot roast and potatoes on a whole new level. Family farms provide the raw ingredients, and the restaurant's highly acclaimed chefs turn each humble vegetable into an edible work of art. Reserve your spot for a Tasting for Two, which features five courses that take you on a culinary journey through America's Breadbasket—warm bread and butter included.

4. Twelvemonth | Burlingame, CA

Fruits and vegetables take center stage at Twelvemonth, an eco-friendly restaurant that focuses on plant-based food. While Twelvemonth works to lower its environmental impact (earning a Platinum LEED certification along the way), it's raising the bar for vegetarian dishes like bean chilaquiles, fishless poke bowls and seasonal offerings, making the restaurant a destination for those who love eating green and clean.

5. Trattoria Stella | Traverse City, MI

When Traverse City's downtown came back to life 20 years ago, so too did its food scene, led by Trattoria Stella. You'll find local goodness in every dish and a romantic atmosphere at every table. The farms that supply the restaurant's meat, vegetables and honey are listed on the menu so you know exactly where your pork chop came from. Even the drinks are local, with spirits from nearby distilleries.

6. SingleThread Restaurant | Healdsburg, CA

SingleThread believes that healthy food starts with healthy soil, so that's why the Michelin-star restaurant stocks its kitchen with fruit, vegetables and herbs from its own farm. Reserve your table early (because of its popularity, reservations can be difficult to get) to indulge in an incredible 10-course tasting menu that highlights the farm's latest harvest. You can pair your meal with a chardonnay or pinot noir from California's Wine Country.

7. The Old Mill Pottery House Cafe | Pigeon Forge, TN

The smell of baking bread will lure you inside the Old Mill Pottery House Cafe, where you'll learn that each delicious loaf is made from grain ground at the on-site gristmill, one of the oldest in the U.S. Even the serveware is made from scratch: your fried green tomatoes, chicken almond quiche and pecan pie (all made with local ingredients) come on dishes created by resident potters.

8. Talula's Garden | Philadelphia, PA

In the heart of downtown Philly you'll find a touch of farmlife at Talula's Garden. Handmade ravioli, seared scallops, line-caught tuna: each dish is prepared with ingredients so fresh you may forget you're in the middle of a metropolis. The restaurant might be most known for its cheese bar; owner Aimee Olexy personally oversees the artisan cheeses, jams and candied nuts that come through Talula's doors and onto diners' plates.

9. Chateau Morrisette Restaurant | Floyd, VA

As you walk through the grand stone entrance, you'll quickly realize you're in for an evening of fine dining at Chateau Morrisette. Make a reservation at this Virginia vineyard and restaurant for upscale Southern cuisine that's locally sourced and that changes with the season. Before your meal, take a tour of the winery to see how your glass of pinot grigio travels from barrel to your table.

10. The Quincy Exchange | Corning, NY

Lemony campanelle pasta, oysters Rockefeller, housemade focaccia: the tastes of Upstate New York come together at the Quincy Exchange. Hospitality is king at this private restaurant, which opens only for special events so you and your group can enjoy the staff's full attention. Perhaps the most popular reason to book the space is the full bar, which features rare bourbons and a huge wine list that includes Finger Lakes vintages.
