In conversations with Newsweek, Bill Brown, President & CEO of Citadel Credit Union answered the following questions:

1. How does the history of your institution inform its present-day policies?

The history of Citadel Credit Union is grounded in a commitment to community care and ethical leadership. As a not-for-profit business, we have been driven by a genuine desire to serve and support our members and their communities: Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. This commitment has led to our growth from a single branch to 24 locations, each dedicated to meeting the needs of the members and businesses across our charter area. Our historical emphasis on community engagement and support to help our members build financial strength informs our current policies, ensuring that we prioritize ethical practices, pristine service, and a focus on diversity and inclusion as we continue to grow and evolve. Our values—Innovation, Opportunity, Connection, Transparency, Security, and Respect—guide all our actions. We are dedicated to expanding our offering great products and services while ensuring equitable access to credit and financial resources for all.

2. How would you describe your company's contribution and commitment to its community?

Citadel is deeply committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve. As a not-for-profit institution, we prioritize community service and support through various programs and initiatives. We are proud of our Citadel Cares Philanthropy & Volunteer Program, which focuses on financial literacy, affordable housing, and health and wellness. Our Citadel Heart of Learning Awards recognize and celebrate outstanding educators, highlighting our dedication to education. Our long-standing partnership with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), is one of many programs crafted with the goal in mind of enhancing community well-being.

3. What key benefits and permanent features does your company offer to customers?

Citadel offers a range of benefits and features to our members, including financial wellness content, empathetic customer service, and community-centric initiatives. Our services are tailored to the needs of the communities across our charter, and we prioritize transparency, inclusivity, and ethical practices. We provide comprehensive financial services designed to not just manage but enhance our members' wealth according to their personal goals. The commitment to personalized service means members receive tailored advice and support that considers their entire financial picture. We are continuously investing in community programs focused on financial education, expanding access to credit in underserved areas, and ensuring all communities are served equitably. Our internal reviews, policy adjustments, and enhanced training ensure our practices remain fair and inclusive. Citadel's senior leadership is deeply committed to these initiatives, evidenced by current proactive measures taken for new partnerships and branch locations.
